Character Name: Mindy Macready
Series: Kick-ass
Age: Eleven. (I'm going by how old Chloe Moretz was when she played Mindy)
From When?: Just before Kick-Ass rescues her from Frank D'Amico.

Inmate/Warden: Inmate. Mindy was screwed over for the entirety of her life with the way her father raised her. She sees nothing wrong with beating someone to a bloody pulp for any wrongdoing she's caught them in and this desperately needs to change. She's an eleven year old girl and should be more interested in doing eleven year old girl things like playing with her friends or watching Disney movies or staying up late at slumber parties. Unfortunately, she doesn't know how to do any of this and needs to learn. She can probably fake it with ease but actually enjoying it? That's a little harder. She actually can't enjoy that sort of thing.

Abilities/Powers:
Here's the thing abut Mindy. She's human. There are no special genetic abilities to her. Really the only thing remarkable about Mindy is her weapons proficiency. It far excels most adults. She could easily take out a room full of people without even blinking. She's deadly accurate with swords and guns, even bordering on imaginative with how she uses them. Give her a gun and she'll have it taken apart, cleaned and reassembled in a short amount of time. Point out a weapon she's never used before and she'll learn how to use it with ease. She's also quick, nimble and a highly skilled martial artist and free-runner, something that'd put a professional traceur to shame. But this has limitations. For starters, she's just a child. She's small so someone bigger than her with the same skills as her could easily cause trouble for her and even take her out. She also tires eventually. Her stamina and energy levels might be higher than most kids, due to training and exercise, but she will still wear down.

She doesn't heal faster than others. A broken bone takes as long as everyone elses bones do to heal. She'll need stitches if a cut is deep enough and kevlar is the only thing keeping her from dying from bullets but even then, a shot at just the right body part has the potential to kill her.

Personality: The main thing to remember is Mindy is a child. She's eleven years old and enjoys things like Hello, Kitty and pink and purple but past that? There's not much she has in common with other children. At all. She highly prefers violent John Woo films, butterfly knives and guns. She knows more about different ways to kill a person than someone her age should and she sees nothing wrong with this at all.

She has no problem with taking the law into her own hands, having been taught that justice systems are corrupt and flawed. Her methods, however, are entirely questionable. She prefers corpses to survivors and can be a very determined child when it comes to making people pay. This was how she was raised and it's not something she'll shake any time soon.

She's also a very foul mouthed child. Words that would make a sailor cringe fall from her lips quite frequently, most of the time used to shock and alarm. She finds fun in it and as Hit-Girl, it's worse. Creative, even. She's an intelligent girl, too. Her vocabulary does extend far beyond vulgarities and she is fully capable of going without swearing. She just chooses not to.

And again, her intelligence and creativity. She's a fast learner. Put a weapon in front of her that she's never used before and give her a few pointers, she'll have it sorted out and quickly. She's also creative and resourceful enough to use anything she can get her hands on as a weapon. Kitchen knives, expensive vases, even a broom handle and she can cause some serious damage. She's also been known to get her targets to kill themselves through clever use of ropes and general trickery.

Boiled down, however, to her one key personality trait and Mindy is still just a child. Things excite her more than most adults. She feels emotions strongly, she can react in big, childlike ways. Huge grins or fits of anger which, in Mindy's case, can be violent. As a child, she wants an adults approval. Especially if they're an adult she looks up to. She likes showing off to adults, complete with "Hey are you watching? You're not watching. Hey. Look what I can do! Look!" Unfortunately, her child-like behaviors stop there.

She doesn't really know how to be a child past that. Sure, she's friendly and big hearted and sweet as any child shoot be, but that's really all she has.

She won't like the Barge at first. Not for a very long time. She thinks what she did is in fact okay. She thinks exactly how her dad taught her. Bad people need to be punished. It's what she knows so for someone to tell her she was one of the bad guys, that she did something wrong. She won't be okay with this for a good long while. She won't accept it and will be very resistant to any efforts for rehab.

Path to Redemption: First thing they'd want to do is mention her father. Easing her into the idea that he actually did wrong by her would be wisest. There is also comparing Marcus to her father. Marcus was a better father figure, he worked hard to teach her right from wrong and to give her a normal childhood. School. Playtime. As normal a childhood as a child deserved. There's a part of her that misses it, she's just loathe to actually admit it.

Mention her mother. Question her on what she thinks her mother would think of her. Try to convince her that her mother would in fact NOT want this life for her. All of the moving and hiding and being friendless. Her mother would want better.

History: Mindy Macready's life was screwed up before it even began. Her father, a hard working police officer, was framed and incarcerated for drug related charges. Her mother, unable to cope with the stress of a pregnancy and mounting bills, committed suicide and Mindy went to live with a coworker of her fathers named Marcus. Her life should have been puppy dogs and rainbows after and for a short while, it was. But while her father was in jail, he dreamed of and even plotted revenge and convinced himself he needed Mindy to help carry it out. Upon his release, Mindy went back to him and from the moment he had her, her training began.

She learned various forms of martial arts and received extensive weapons training and her father told her of his plan through fairy stories and a home made comic book where Mindy and Daddy were the heroes against the villains and fought them side by side. This warped the girls perceptions of reality and she really wanted to be the crime fighting girl in the comics. She also desperately wanted to please her father and worked hard to learn everything he taught her, soaking it all up like a sponge.

When she was eleven, she met a young hero wannabe going by the name Kick-Ass (named Dave Lizewski) and, intrigued and even impressed, she convinced her dad to team up with the new hero. While Kick-ass went through great lengths to show the world he was there, however, Mindy (going by Hit Girl) and her father (Going by Big Daddy) weren't and this eventually lead to trouble. Mindy and her father had already started picking off the thugs responsible for his incarceration and Kick-ass got the blame for it. It was eventually discovered who was actually responsible and Mindy's dad was captured, along with Kick-ass. It was up to Mindy to rescue them but she could only save the younger hero, her father dying from a fire.

With the help of Kick-ass, she went after the rest of the group responsible for her fathers death and almost lost her life in the process until her partner showed. The fight was won and Mindy went back to live with Marcus, even enrolling in the same school as Dave. She was supposed to live a quiet, normal life but her fathers teachings are too ingrained and she's last seen defending herself against school yard bullies.

I'm taking her from just before being rescued by Kick-Ass when Frank D'Amico is standing over her beaten body with a gun pointed at her head.

Sample Journal Entry: [Pigtails and youth aside, the little girl staring at you on the device looks like she's just been through hell. She's bruised. There's blood on her face and she looks tired and keyed up all in one go. There's a purple wig nearby and a length of black fabric in her hands. The fabric has two holes in it and also appears a bit bloody.]

Okay, listen the fuck up. My name is Mindy and I'm an inmate. I don't know who my warden is but if any of you could tell me or at least give me a god damn clue as to when I find this out, it'd be appreciated.

[The most disturbing part about this isn't the language or the harsh tone. It's the smile on her face as she speaks, as if this type of language is as common as breathing for her. Which it is.]

I have shit to do back home and want to get back to it as soon as fucking possible.

Sample RP: She promised Marcus she would try to just exist. Stay out of trouble. Keep her head down. Go to class and do her homework and make friends. Actual friends. ones that didn't have utility belts or an alter ego or a collection of butterfly knives and throwing stars under their bed. Who had no clue how to dismantle a gun in a few seconds and whose only experience with 'kill shots' were from video games. Maybe even find one that liked Hello Kitty. That'd be nice. Right? That's what she was aiming for, here. Nice. Normal. Just being an average, every day kid so when the round boy and the boy with the long red hair and his hand extended walked up, Mindy smiled and introduced herself, extending her hand.

"Hi, I'm Mindy!" But the redhead ignored her hand, instead opting to smirk at her.

"No, new kid. Lunch money." And he still smirked and waited.

Oh. School yard bullies. Assholes who thought they were the top of the motherfucking food chain in the world. The softest 'hardasses' the fucking planet has to offer. Okay, then. Mindy smirked, let her hand drop and she studied both of them for a moment. She wondered, as she cracked her knuckles and flexed her fingers, if they saw just a little girl when they looked at her. Her with her hair braided and her Hello Kitty backpack on her shoulder. Her pink t-shirt and jeans and the fact that she was short, compared to them. She wondered, as her fists flew and her feet connected with painful and sensitive areas, if they picked on everyone smaller and weaker than they were for lunch money that one of them obviously didn't need.

When the wanna-be thugs hit the ground, Mindy brushed her hands off on her jacket and smirked down at them. "I'll be keeping my eyes on you two motherfuckers. Don't try this shit again. You got me, assholes?" The thugs whimpered and nodded at the diminutive force of nature and as Mindy turned back to the school, they ran off to hide who the fuck knew where to try to salvage the shattered pieces of their pride.

One step towards the school was full of confidence at a job well done, the second filled with a slight sense of unease and with the third, it finally dawned on her. Five minutes in and she already broke her promise.

Marcus was going to be pissed.

Special Notes:

I am more than willing to age Mindy up if I have to. I wouldn't mind sticking with her age since it's canon but I also am aware that there is a preference for inmates fifteen and older. Mindy needs this, though. Without it, there's no way she'd be able to function without ending up in jail or worse. She's very out of touch with reality, in her own way. She won't do well at all without the Barges intervention, without the people on here to help her learn how to just be a kid. She wants to be just a kid. It'd make Marcus happy back home. She just has no clue where to start and not knowing what she's doing will make her very, very wary of any suggestions.
